Lake District? don't mind if I do.

I was lucky enough to spend a couple of days in the lake District this weekend past, taking a run down on the Sunday with Gavin and Nicole, the plan being to get down and do the Honister and Whinlatter passes and then we would split up with me heading for a B&B in Ambleside and Gav & Nicole heading back late afternoon.

Sunday was cool and it kept trying to rain on the way through the borders but by the time we got to Cockermouth the rain had passed even if it hadn't warmed up much.

On the Monday i rode the Kirkston pass followed by Wrynose and then the Hardknott pass in glorious sunshine and thankfully a bit warmer conditions.

The Hardknott is the only tricky one and is certinly steeper than i had thought but watching cyclists gurning there way to the top is worth the climb on its own!
Anyway a few pics.

And we're off!

Finally got my summer riding season going, I know I ride to work throughout the winter but it's a different sensation riding when there's a bit of warmth in the sun! First destination was Hartside cafe in the Pennines, which was a lovely run through the borders, all great biking roads on the Sunday, then followed up by a run through to Glencoe today, in glorious sunshine. That's about a month late for me, my first run of the year is usually Glencoe but on the first Sunday of March.
