Alan Duffus, TZ750

A few pics of Alan's TZ750 which is currently being shipped out to South Africa for a TT Revival meeting to be held in 2013. Alan and his TZ750 enjoyed a lot of success together with a couple of championships, lap records and several race wins.

Modern Triton

Cracking mixture of old and new in this Triton, would put a smile on any ones face when they lifted the garage door. Also worth noting this bike is ridden whatever the weather, makes me feel a little embarrassed about sticking mine away for the winter, but I will get over it!

XJR Wrench Monkey Style

The bike speaks for it's self but I do love those spoke wheels.

Throttle Bodies

The adaptors finally turned up so that the throttle bodies could be balanced on the Tiger, whilst in there I thought it would be a good idea to fit the new ICAV gasket that I had and along with the new vacuum tubes that should be all air leaks taken care of. To say the throttle bodies where along way out would be an understatement the bike was trying to backfire through the middle cylinder and they wasn't even on the gauges they where that far out Baz an Gav did an awesome job of tuning them! it's like a totally different bike just sits there ticking over quietly, no hunting, no stalling and so fucking smooth it's unreal!
I had read somewhere that balancing the throttle bodies was the best thing you can do to a Tiger and the author of that pearl of wisdom was not wrong, I am not exaggerating it's totally transformed her!
As always though nothing can ever go smoothly and one of the fuel pump fittings snapped so I had to order a couple of these in as one leaked when disconnected and sod's law states that the one that broke was not the leaky one, so whilst the pump was out a new filter was fitted, you should have seen the shite that come out of the old one and the crud that was in the bottom of the tank! can't be rust as it's plastic so the only place it could have come from is the petrol pumps!
Anyway that's the last piece of the puzzle and finally she runs like she was designed too, all the other things I had done to her made small but significant improvements but having got the throttle bodies balanced has totally transformed the old girl.

LSL Goodies

Purchased a set of these for the Bonnie, have to say the quality is nothing short of  outstanding, honestly the photos don't do them justice!

Thruxton Tank

Sale of the century this one! I could not believe my luck when I stumbled across this tank. It's a Brand new never fitted Thruxton tank mine for a measly sum so now my Bonny will have the proper tank badges instead of decals.

Barn Find ? Not Strictly

I can't claim that this is a barn find as it wasn't strictly lost! but I came across it in one of our storage places and the best type of deal was done, a bit of my time for a free project bike.
It's a 1989 ZXR750 H1, been laid up for several years, no keys, most of the plastics are fucked and there are a few bits missing from the brakes (more of this later) but apart from that its all there so the plan is to take the plugs out, put some oil down the bores and put a battery on it an see if it will turn over; from that I shall decide what to do with it.

Now in my hurry to get it off the van and into my garage this morning in the pouring rain I forgot that it has no brakes!!!! and we came flying down the ramp and landed in a heap at the bottom of it, now she has a bent clip-on and clutch lever but thankfully no other damage to the bike, but my ribs took a pounding.

Nice Triton

Can't remember where I found this but I believe it's in Australia, would look nicer in my drive way though!

2 Stroke Porn

This would put hairs on your chest

Shimmed

Tiger with her top off! shims all checked and wall within tolerance except one of the exhaust shims on number three which was two thou out, so one shim changed and that's her good for another 12000 miles. I was really surprised when I took the rocker cover off to find the cams in excellent condition with barely any sign of wear, this engine is showing 40,000 miles and should easily do another.

Three nice new shiny IACV hoses on display

Triumph update

Fitted this dress up kit that I got from TEC Triumph, was surprised when I took my clutch cable off to find it was full of water, the original rubber tit doesn't let water out the cable!

This is how I found the idle air control piping when I removed the tank, I have fitted new valve but I have had to order new pipes; the bike is running a lot smoother now and I finally got the brakes working how they should even the back one although I cant change the pads in it, so I will have to look out for a good second hand Calliope in the near future.

Silver Eyes

Pinched from Bike Exif, so pop over there for the full spec, but she's too good not too share.

Wrong Way Round

I met Dene yesterday, hes doing a charity ride all around the UK coast for a cancer charity on a Honda C90, one of the nicest fellows you could ever wish to meet. If you see him on the road give him a wave or pop across to his site and make a donation.

El Tigre Progress

Well started the service on El Tigre and to work through some of its issues. Firstly I changed the oil an filter which looks like it was probably the same oil as I put in her three years ago, jet black and piss thin! so she now has 4 litres of Yamalube 10/40 fully synthetic coursing through her galleries which has quietened her down a bit.
Next off was the brakes, I see that she has new pads in the front so I think a change of fluid will be all that's required there and a little bit of  a clean but the back caliper now that's a different story! one piston seized solid and the other just about moving and the pad retaining pin is seized solid with the head fucked up and the pads rusted to it so its going to want another caliper, feel like sending this one to the D.O.T and asking how the fuck can a bike pass an mot with a brake caliper in this condition? Its about as much use as tits on a fish!
As proceedings where abruptly brought to a halt on the brake front I thought I would whip the tank off, wish I had left it on now tbh! The IACV hoses are all perished and one had fallen off so I think that's why it ran like a sack of spanners and smelled rich, also the valves in the petrol tank wont shut off so the tank needs laying on its side to stop it leaking fuel and finally the hose to the pressure regulator is perished so not too bad all in all but going to have to throw more money at the old tart to get her reliable, will be worth it when she's done but that brake caliper is really nipping me head!

LSL Thruxton

I think I am drawn to Thruxtons, better tell the missus I need one to go with the standard Bonny, second thoughts best not!!!

The Return Of El Tigre

Can you ever have enough Triumphs? In my case I think the answer is a resounding no.
three years and 3500 miles later El Tigre has returned to the fold sporting 40,000 miles now I'm going to give her a full chassis and engine service and she should be ready for another forty.

Ready to be unloaded after her trip back home from Kilmarnock

No It's Not Me!

I pinched this from Bubble Visor.

Valentino Re-united With Yamaha

The Doctor has signed a 2 year deal to ride for Yamaha, thank God for that! tbh I could not bear to watch him circulating around sixth place for another 2 years on the Red Shed.
It's always sat a bit uneasy with me supporting him whilst he's been riding the Duc of Death, and anyone who knows me will know off my passionate dislike for Ducati's but support him I have just glad to see him back on his beloved M1.

Run In The Sun

Took advantage of this purple patch of weather to have a run along the coast up to Pittenweem this afternoon after work, bloody lovely flying along the twisty backroads, not many bikes about about though, did see a gaggle of Harleys in St Monans but they didn't wave! what is it with Harley riders, are they so stuck up there own arse that they can't manage a nod to anyone not riding America's fastest tractor?
Have to say the seat is a tad hard to put it politely but I have a cure for that I think and when I've tried it I shall report back.
On way home unfortunatley came across an accident where a learner had been knocked off whilst out training, bike was pretty bent to fuck by all accounts but the rider was on his feet chatting to his instructor and the car driver so thats the main thing.

New Carb Tops

I picked up a pair of these alloy carb tops from www.tecbikeparts.com I think they look pretty striking and kind of remind me of the extended float bowls you used to get for Amal carbs, just need to find time to fit them now!

Gav's Commando!

Nope I don't mean that he runs around all day with no kek's on either! Let me introduce you to a very nice 750 Commando of the Norton variety. I am hoping to take some proper photo's of this bike in the near future but for now here's a wee taster.
